Welcome to Brewerytown
By no surprise, Brewerytown got its name from the numerous breweries that used to line the Schuylkill river. With prohibition and breweries then moving to the Midwest, jobs left the area and blight replaced it. Developers targeted Brewerytown for redevelopment because of its prime location above the Fairmount section of the city and its close proximity to highways and public transportation. Now Brewerytown is experiencing new life with high end new townhomes and condos plus a booming commercial corridor along Girard Ave. Young buyers looking for turn key homes for their first purchase have had a great influence on this rising neighborhood.
